What should you check before expecting Shorts payments?
Start in your channel's Earn tab and compare it with the official YouTube Partner Program eligibility page. Access to a feature and access to Shorts advertising revenue are different questions. Requirements can depend on the program, availability and effective date.
This guide does not promise a fast path to approval. Numerical progress does not replace application review, and a production tool cannot approve your channel.
An eligibility checklist
| Check | Where to verify it |
|---|---|
| Program availability | Official YPP documentation |
| Channel progress | YouTube Studio Earn tab |
| Account and payment setup | Instructions shown during application |
| Content compliance | Channel monetization policies |
| Shorts monetization acceptance | Applicable module and channel settings |
Keep a dated record of the requirements relevant to your channel. Do not mix the entry requirements for one feature with the advertising requirements for another. If an official page announces a future change, record its effective date instead of applying it immediately.
Review the content itself
YouTube's channel monetization policies describe review of reused and inauthentic content. A faceless format is not evidence of originality by itself. Review research, narration, editing and permissions across the channel, rather than assuming that a new voice or an AI image resolves every policy question.
Create a source and asset log for each video. Note which statements need fact checking and which images, clips or music require permission. Keep your final export and project files so revisions are possible. A consistent visual template can help editing, but repeating a template is not a guarantee of eligibility.
Approval and payment are separate steps
After access is enabled, confirm which revenue features are active. The Shorts policy explains acceptance of the Shorts Monetization Module and eligible views. Views acquired before the relevant acceptance do not automatically become payable afterward.
The live policy contains provisions dated February 2027. Verify the effective date and your account's instructions before relying on them; this October 2026 guide does not silently apply a future rule.
Plan a production test
Use a small project to evaluate whether the research and editing process is sustainable. Track costs and the time required for factual review. Forgen is in testing and helps Windows creators assemble scripts, narration and AI scenes into editable CapCut projects. It does not guarantee YPP acceptance, distribution or earnings. Request early access if you want to evaluate that workflow.
For budgeting, use the RPM calculator only as a scenario worksheet. An eligibility checklist cannot forecast income, and assumed RPM is not channel revenue history.
Review scope
Reviewed October 3, 2026. The linked official documentation and the channel's Earn tab remain the references for current requirements. This article focuses on verification steps and does not provide an approval deadline or guaranteed route to monetization.
