Local AI Video on PC: Costs, Providers and Limits
Local storage does not mean every generation step runs offline. Before choosing a PC workflow, list which operations use your hardware and which call an external service. This avoids treating an installed application as a promise of free, unlimited generation.
Map your dependencies
- Script processing: identify the connected model and its usage terms.
- Narration: record the voice service or local engine actually selected.
- Visual media: identify the image or video provider and its limits.
- Assembly: verify output location, available storage and editor compatibility.
- Recovery: preserve existing assets when a provider stops responding.
Test the workflow with a complete script and record the resulting costs yourself. Hardware capacity, account limits, network conditions and retries can change the result. There is no verified universal number of videos that a PC can produce per hour.
Keep editable assets outside temporary download folders. Before deleting a working directory, open its draft and verify that the editor no longer depends on those files. A workflow with recoverable projects is more useful than a claim that there will never be queues or subscriptions.
Where Forgen fits
Forgen is a Windows product in testing that works from your complete story toward narration, scenes and an editable CapCut draft. Review the result and test editor compatibility. Its workflow includes connected services; local files do not imply offline generation, free provider usage or unlimited throughput. Plan the narration with the word counter and join the waiting list for launch information.
